Mid-level print producer needed to manage print production for large OOH buys, station dominations, magazine and newspaper. This print producer will oversee print projects from spec verification, budgets and scheduling, through production of high volume mechanicals, routing, retouching, proofing, and material release to pubs and printers, ultimately ensuring the finest print quality is achieved within the clients’ budgets and timetables.
- Review print and OOH media plans, obtain specs, and ask all necessary questions from vendors to obtain absolute clarity on the units so mechanicals are built correctly. Directly inform the studio of the specs via mechanical briefing worksheets to assure correct file preparation for art and mechanicals for size, scale, and resolution. Have a good knowledge of overall timing needed to execute studio mechanical builds, client reviews and releases. Consistently update and verify timings and workloads with studio manager so staffing resources are managed efficiently.
- Manage retouching process: review all proofs with Art Directors, interpret their revisions, determine the best method for executing, and review the revisions with the retouchers. Requires a good eye for color, understanding of color management and retouching process.
- Review art and mechanicals prior to file release to be certain that it is prepared properly, using correct art size and resolution to achieve the desired creative result when it is printed at various different sizes.
- Familiarity with various printing processes such as commercial offset, newspaper web, digital printing and letterpress, as well as spec’ing paper and managing press checks preferred.
5+ years of experience in agency print production, with concentrated experience in heavy OOH, particularly station dominations. Should be familiar with OOH scaling, resolution standards, type legibility guidelines, and general advertising industry practices and procedures. Experience working with an in-house retouching, mechanical and prepress studio a big plus. Candidate needs to be highly organized, have a strong attention to detail and eye for color, and possess the ability to track multiple projects at a time. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected along with a friendly demeanor and can-do attitude.
