In 2010, Executive Creative Director, Pelle Sjoenell left BBH New York for the entertainment mecca of the world – Los Angeles – to explore the intersection of advertising, technology and entertainment.

Today, BBH LA is a modern agency with a start-up mentality, tackling non-traditional advertising and infusing BBH thinking into Hollywood and Silicon Beach.

To that end, BBH LA launched two ventures in 2014: ZAG and The Creative Studio. ZAG brings world-class digital innovation capabilities to the heart of the agency. The Creative Studio is a next-generation production studio that allows us to control the creative process, from start to finish.



The Creative Studio

When you can make everything, you can achieve anything.

When Charlie Chaplain formed ‘United Artists,’ he called it what it was – a studio meant to unite the artists. In that spirit, The Creative Studio was born – a studio meant to nourish creativity. Because an idea is just an idea until it’s made.

Partnering with Scooter Braun, the young Hollywood mogul recently named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World, The Creative Studio pairs BBH thinking with a creative powerhouse that spans music, technology and entertainment.

Much like early Hollywood – when everything was created on the actual studio lots – The Creative Studio is a next-generation content machine that allows us to control the entire creative process, from start to finish. This capability allows us to create anything: original IP, music videos, television shows, feature films, documentaries and beyond.

The Creative Studio builds on BBH’s legacy of pioneering branded entertainment. These groundbreaking projects have included the first brand-owned television channel, The Audi Channel, and the first television series conceived and produced by an ad agency, MTV’s “Axe Gamekillers.” Now, we have in-house ability to bring these ideas and I.P. to life.


ZAG brings world class digital innovation capabilities to the heart of BBH LA.

Led by Head of Strategy & Innovation, Fran Hazeldine, the ZAG team comprises senior specialists from the disciplines of product strategy, user experience, interactive design, creative technology and project management.
ZAG applies Lean Startup methodology, with a focus on minimum viable products that can be launched quickly and optimized in market based on real user data.

This approach is used across client innovation projects and in-house ventures owned and funded by BBH LA. Current ZAG clients include Google Play and Zodiac Vodka.

Working with ZAG is flexible, scalable and collaborative. Client services include strategic consulting, experience design and end-to-end product development.
